What is your current profession? How do you juggle your work and your writing?
I am a professor in Afrikaans and Creative Writing at UCT and currently on sabbatical.
No problem to juggle work and writing.
I write everyday for at least 8 hours: poetry, reviews and currently a guide for young poets.

With which person, living or dead, would you like to have a conversation?
Marilyn Monroe. I would like to talk to her about being misrepresented as an empty sex object as Jacqueline Rose pointed out. I am also curious about the relationship with Arthur Miller, the famous dramatist.

What is the most compelling lesson you have learned thus far from the Covid-19 pandemic?
Less is more. I keep a daily memoir on my blog Woorde wat weeg.

Which poets are you currently reading or which poets inspire you?
e.e. cummings, Robert Pinsky, Robert Frost, Wallace Stevens.
